Irelands largest suppliers of construction & quarry equipment Pat O Donnell & Co have made the switch to using Hydrated Vegetable Oil (HVO) for use in its fleet of service vehicles throughout Ireland. Pat O Donnell & Co is one of the first companies in this sector to mandate the switch to HVO from its 4 depots in Ireland.
HVO is a fossil free biofuel made by reacting waste vegetable oils and animal fats with hydrogen to create fuel suitable for use in diesel engines. With making the switch to HVO, Pat O Donnell & Co can deliver an 88% reduction in their carbon emissions. HVO is now being used daily across their 3 depots in Ireland and 1 depot in Portadown in service vans and sales vehicles. By using HVO fuel Pat O Donnell & Co have the ability to reduce emissions by 854 tonnes on an annual basis.
This is a huge step for a company that strives to be carbon neutral by 2025. Rotech was delighted to play a major part in this with the supply of HVO ready tanks and Piusi pumps to their 4 depots. Welook forward to seeing what other green initiatives they have planned over the coming year!
