Operating an extensive fleet of mobile cranes, trucks, vans and other equipment from four strategically located depots throughout the country.
Fuel Management
Due the scale and number of vehicles within the Kavanagh crane hire fleet, it was important that fuel usage was tracked across all depots in a centralised system that could be managed from the head office in Wexford.
This is where the PIUSI B.Smart cloud based system ticked all the boxes for Kavanagh’s requirements.
- Multiple sites across the country can be linked to the cloud
- Ability to add multiple pumps per site with the option to expand further
- Ease of pump activation by drivers through a dedicated mobile APP
- Ability to generate QR codes for each vehicle to eliminate human error when inputting vehicle reg. numbers
- Tank level gauges connected to the B.Smart cloud to provide on screen levels & automated alarms for all sites
- Fully expandable to any amount of drivers, sites and pumps
Multiple Sites
Kavanagh Crane Hire operate from 3 depots outside of their main depot in Wexford. The advantage of the B.Smart system is that they now have full control over these sites from their head office, allowing them to make changes such as disable pumps, add/remove both drivers and vehicles from accessing fuel and with thanks to the Tank watchdog they can also view current tank levels and set low level alarms to prompt re-ordering of fuel.
Full Reporting
Once each transaction is completed from any site, the information gets sent directly to the cloud. This allows admin staff in head office to run reports across all sites, vehicles and drivers remotely. This further enhances their ability to plan ahead for fuel purchasing and greatly improves over all management of fuel usage across their large fleet
Kavanagh Crane hire installed the B.Smart system in 2021 and have been expanding ever since. It has proved to be invaluable in monitoring their fuel stocks and usage during unsettled periods of supply and pricing – allowing them to plan ahead and improve their overall consumption.
2024 Garage Installation
The main depot in Wexford recently received a full re-design to accommodate the building of a new state of the art workshop. Rotech were tasked with the design of a full garage installation which included some key features
- 3 reel banks strategically located for full coverage with 7 oil types, coolant, air and water.
- Digital oil dispensing guns with anti-drip nozzles & wall mounted drip trays
- Fully colour coded and plated reels, tanks and lines
- Steel gun barrel pipework throughout from reels back to externally located storage tanks
- Individual air reels and points located throughout the garage & externally
- 4 retractable reels located in two cubby holes within the two inspection pits
- 2 waste oil & 2 waste coolant drainers with integrated pumps for inspection pits
- Waste oil and coolant extraction points to bundled tanks located externally
- 1,500 Litre fully bunded tanks for each oil type with segregated waste tanks
- Two 35 metre fully stainless retractable power washer reels located in wash bay
- Two fuel dispensing points with retractable reels to accommodate, DERV, Green diesel, Kerosene & AdBlue
Reel Banks
Within the workshop there are three main reel banks which accommodate 7 oil types, coolant, air and water. Each bank is situated to provide coverage throughout the workshop allowing for ease of access to any oil. Each reel is fitted with a digital oil dispensing gun with anti-drip nozzle and is fully labeled and colour coded to prevent human error. Each reel is connected into the oil delivery pipework which is fed from dedicated bunded storage tanks located externally to the workshop.
Steel Gun Barrel Pipework
The workshop is completely fitted out with gun barrel pipework which provides a clean and maintenance free life. Each line is terminated with the lever valve & bung to allow for further expansion or extensions in the future
Air Reels & Air Points
Air is located throughout the workshop with one air reel in each main reel bank along with multiple other air reels through the workshop and on the external walls of the workshop. Air outlet points are also dropped down from the supply line to provide quick connect various points for air operated tools and equipment.
Inspection Pit Reels
Due to the length of the inspection pits to accommodate cranes, two reels per pit are located within recessed points to provide full pit coverage for oil dispensing. Each pit is also serviced by colour coded oil drainers for waste oil and coolant.
Waste oil & Waste Coolant
Waste oil and coolant is managed by dedicated extraction points, once connected to any oil drainer the integrated pump will discharge the waste through the pipework to the holding tanks which are located externally in a bonded area. This provides a fast, clean and efficient way of waste oil and coolant disposal.
High Level tank alarms and timed switch
Each waste tank is fitted with a high level alarm which will indicate when the tank level has reached a set height. A timer switch is also fitted to the air pump system as a fail safe
Bunded Tanks & Fill Points
Each storage tank Is located in a dedicated external area with each tank fully labeled. 2” Fill points with drip trays are located on all tanks for ease of filling preventing any possible spillages. Bunded fuel tanks are also located in another location and piped through underground ducts to the refuelling banks limiting the above ground pipework.
External Reels
Two 35 metre stainless steel Power washer reels along with various air reels are all mounted externally. Along with two fuel banks which include DERV, Green diesel, Kerosene and AdBlue
